Jiu Jitsu (Gi): We teach traditional Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ). It is a system of combat that focuses on takedowns, ground control, escapes, and submissions. No striking (kicks, punches, etc) is allowed. These classes will focus on the art of BJJ while wearing a gi. With its many grips and variety of techniques, the gi turns what is normally checkers into chess. Class format is typically an hour of instruction, followed by a half hour of rolling. We have clean gis that you are welcome to use if you are a new student.
Jiu Jitsu (No Gi): This style of jiu jitsu is practiced in shorts and a rash guard. Class format is typically an hour of instruction, followed by a half hour of rolling. It is bit faster, the strategy is a little different, and the rules can vary slightly. Overall, no gi jiu jitsu is a fantastic supplement to your gi jiu jitsu game.
Our program is run under the guidance of second degree black belt Kevin Sheridan, owner of Sheridan Jiu Jitsu. Kevin Sheridan studied under Master Alliance instructors including Fabio Clemente. Kevin placed 2nd at the World Championships in 2008 and received his black belt in 2010.
